Shingles
Shingles is a disease caused by the same virus that causes chickenpox. In the United States, 9 out of 10 adults have had chickenpox. Chances are, you were one of them. If you’ve had chickenpox, the virus can live, but remain inactive, in your body for many years. If it becomes active again — usually later in life — the chickenpox virus can give you Shingles.
